Do you feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or even helpless about what’s happening in our communities or country?
Want to raise more awareness about an issue close to your heart (like cancer, women's rights, school safety)?
You’re not alone!
So many people care deeply... but feel unsure how to turn that concern into meaningful action.
This guide was created to help you move from stuck to starting - with clear, doable ways to use your voice for positive change.
This is a picture of my family - three months after I finished bone cancer treatment in 1997 and a few months before my dad's first bone marrow transplant.
I’ve been involved in advocacy for over 20 years, since my first cancer diagnosis at 21 years old. Actually, even before that because the environment and women's rights have always been important. As a young adult cancer survivor, I saw firsthand how policies and decisions impact real people. Now, as a daughter who lost her dad to cancer and a three-time cancer survivor, I know the impact that Congress' decisions have on all of us.
I’ve learned that change doesn’t just come from systems - it comes from people who are willing to use their voice. People like you and me.
As a passionate advocate, and someone who has taught individuals and organizations how to get engaged in advocacy, I wanted to create a resource to help you choose to use your voice.
This guide is a starting point to help you do exactly that!
